Bells in the Wind

Ten original pieces for an 11-bell Chime

Michel Allard
2006

In 2009 The Bells of St. James will be celebrating its 100th birthday! In recognition of this historic event the Chimers at St. James' have decided to compile three books of music as a Centennial project. The first book is now available; it contains ten new, original pieces of chime music composed by Michel Allard: chimer, composer & talented musician. The tunes are of easy to moderate difficulty, with some two note harmonies. They are arranged for a standard 11-bell chime: larger chimes will accomodate them with ease, and smaller chimes could probably adapt most of the arrangements to fit their range.
The music is printed in keys suitable for a "C" chime; that is to say as if it were to be played on a chime with a tenor bell that sounds the note "C". This allows for the simplest arrangements visually, with the minimum number of sharps and flats. If your chime is played by number, or number/letters, there is ample space to write them in below the staves. All of the tunes can, of course, be transposed into keys suitable for your chime if you so desire, or the handles, batons, keys or ropes of the chime can be labelled in the key of "C".

This is a wonderful & unique collection of chimes music; your bells will thank you for it!
