The Ferryman's Wife
Based on the legend of Oliver's Ferry where it is said travelers
were murdered in their beds, their bodies hidden beneath the
floorboards.
Today Rideau Ferry is a quiet hamlet between Kingston and
Ottawa.
In the early 1800's it was the link between Brockville and
the military settlement of Perth.
When Mary's husband is murdered on their wedding night, Bacchus
the escaped slave who has been raised as her brother is accused
of killing him. With the aid of Mother Barnes, the Witch of
Plum Hollow and Perth lawyer Thomas Radenhurst, Mary and Bacchus
seek freedom in the wilds of Upper Canada.
