Our Pastors at Listowel Mennonite Church

We at LMC are very blessed to have pastors Fred Lichti and Tyler Yantzi serving us. They are both gifted people who care deeply about others, and we are thankful to have them.

Fred Lichti, Senior Pastor

“Listowel Mennonite Church is a caring, energetic congregation with a keen interest in sharing God's love and serving human need, across the street and around the world,” says Fred Lichti, pastor of the congregation since 1993.

Previous to moving to Listowel, Fred served as pastor of the Steinmann Mennonite Church (Baden) and as a student chaplain in a Hospital.

He uses his gifts in the preaching, pastoral care and worship planning ministries of the congregation and enjoys relating to persons of all ages. In his first year at Listowel, Fred introduced Marketplace — an interactive Christmas pageant — which is celebrated on alternate years and has become a signature ministry of this church. Fred has a keen interest in Christian ministries in the global village and promotes cross-cultural service experiences for young people and meaningful connections with a sister church in Burkina Faso.

Fred has studied at the University of Waterloo, Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary and Waterloo Lutheran Seminary. His hobbies include horticulture and wood working. Fred is married to Rosie and they have three young adult children-Nathan, Katie and Leah.

Tyler Yantzi, 1/2 Time Associate Pastor

Tyler Yantzi

Tyler Yantzi is new to Listowel Mennonite, having joined the church in the fall of 2006. Previous to moving to Listowel, Tyler participated in Canadian Mennonite University's School of Discipleship, and has spent the last two years in British Columbia at Columbia Bible College's Outdoor Leadership program.His home church and community is in Tavistock, On, at East Zorra Mennonite Church.

Tyler is gifted in relating with people, and many find him to be an excellent listener. He ministers specifically to the children, youth, and young adults of the congregation.

We are grateful that Tyler responded to God's call to minister to us, and welcome him with open arms.

Tyler is currently enrolled in Geography ES at the University of Waterloo. He has many hobbies, including canoe tripping, snowboarding, and hiking. Tyler is married to a beautiful young lady named Jessica, and they share a home in Listowel.
