My favourite mistake
My friend Tanya very generously invited me to her family's cottage for a girls' getaway, a weekend I looked forward to for weeks. It turned out to be a fantastically relaxing experience, which I desperately needed, as the stress at work has been pretty much non-stop of late. We ate, drank, cooked, read, puddled around on the beach (it was already a bit too cool to go swimming), listened to music, took pictures, sat by the campfire talking and roasting hotdogs & marshmallows, and generally recharged our batteries while strengthening our friendship. I also made some good progress on knitting Tomato -- looks like I'll be on track to get it done before the September Guild meeting.
High winds welcomed us as we arrived on the shores of Lake Huron late Friday night, by which time it was too dark for us to see the reportedly 10-foot waves (we could hear them crashing, though). From what I could see on the drive up, we likely missed a spectacular sunset too. Saturday morning we had a leisurely breakfast, then went tooling around the local small towns, checking out an antique store, a lovely cafe, a couple of very cool shops and galleries, and finishing our tour at The Philosopher's Wool. (Tanya is so thoughtful -- she took me there even though she herself does not knit.) After much hemming and hawing, I finally purchased this marvelous 100% wool in a colour I can only describe as "screaming pink," the result of a dye mistake and hence available on a one-time-only basis. I'm picturing it as a baby girl's sweater... Anyway, I thought this garden angel made by Tanya and her mom that greets visitors to the cottage was a cute spot to set up some yarnography. That colour really is accurate. I love it!
More pictures from the weekend are on flickr. There's also a new set I called "Pretty backgrounds" that were all taken at the cottage this weekend as well.

What a cute picture! It's a great color, too - that will be an adorable sweater.
I'm working on package #2 for you - hoping to pick up a couple of things this weekend and get it in the mail next week, but I'll let you know for sure.

Looks like a great place to have a weekend and enjoy lovely memories
