X-file

My friend Lynn wanted a case for her Dana notebook computer, which she has (of course) named Scully. A case for Dana Scully... it's an X-File!! I knit the front flap first in garter stitch, then cast on a bunch more stitches and joined to knit in the round, finished with a three-needle bind-off, and hand-felted. (Can you tell I avoid seams?) As a finishing touch, I had the brilliant idea of sewing my gauge swatch inside as a pocket. (What else was I going to do with it?!) The yarn is two skeins of Noro Kureyon colourway 182 (for my non-knitty/non-Japanese-speaking friends, that's Japanese for "Crayon" -- hence the bright colours) with a bunch of different wool scraps split-spliced in, as I was too lazy/broke to go buy more yarn when I saw from my gauge swatch that I wasn't going to have enough for the project. So I can guarantee this colourway is absolutely unique! The different wools did not felt at quite the same rate (especially since they weren't all quite the same gauge), but I'm still pretty happy with the result. Thanks to Jacquiebean for the cool buttons. I look forward to seeing Lynn to give it to her in person.
