When you spot your flower, you can't let anything get in your way.
Watched Adaptation on the weekend; Lorne brought his DVD when he came to visit while Derek was at his best friend's bachelor party. It was a fun movie, although the end was as annoying as it intended to be. If a typical film is like a classic pop song, with a very defined structure and arc, then Adaptation is like a piece of experimental jazz with a really wonky improvisational scat that finishes awkwardly what began charmingly enough. In any case, I did understand Kaufman's desire to "show flowers as God's miracles." It's been a harsh spring. I didn't get pictures of the crocuses blooming and now they've been frozen pretty hard so I fear they won't re-open. But when Derek and I got home this evening after his first day at the new job (purchasing produce for a national grocery chain), there was this ray of sunshine, slanting down, illuminating the indoor flowers at the window. I grabbed the camera and captured the beauty before it vanished just minutes later as the sun sank. This lily was a gift from Derek's parents for their 40th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago. We had a pretty great party for them, and now we'll always have this lovely, living memento of the day.
[happy sigh] I'll say it again: I love my camera. More flower pictures will follow. You can never have too many pictures of flowers in the sunshine.
